The NDIA Manufacturing Division’s Supply Chain Network Committee proposes sponsoring two – ninety minutes sessions at the 2013 Defense Manufacturing Conference. Listed below are the two proposed sessions.
Supplier Networks of the Future
What will future manufacturing supplier networks look like? How could new sourcing solutions slash the time and cost to find, qualify and contract with new suppliers? What communications tools will make it easier for trading partners to seamlessly connect for better collaboration and coordination? Once we’re able to dynamically add or swap suppliers with little cost or effort, what adjustments will be needed in risk management strategies? Finally, what supply chain skill sets will tomorrow’s leadership need to design, assemble and coordinate supplier networks in a hyper-connected world?
Our panel of experts and visionaries will provide their insights into the future of manufacturing supplier networks. You’ll learn about new technologies, methods and strategies that are sure to change the way you look at today’s static supply chains. This glimpse into the future will help the audience understand what they can be doing differently today, and what they need to do to better prepare for tomorrow.
Managing Risk in the Aerospace and Defense Supply Chains
The current federal budget crisis coupled with a weakened economy has placed stress on the industrial base not only to provide timely products but also to stay in business. This situation has resulted in an increase of various risks at all tiers of the supply chain. Locating and determining those risks is not an easy task considering the depth and breadth of current aerospace and defense supply chains.
The panel of experts will discuss various issues with in the aerospace and defense industrial base that present risk to our national security. A presentation describing an evolving supply chain metric and how it is currently being applied in a major DoD program will be discussed.
